Meet some of our people

FWAG UK currently employs approximately 120 staff and many of these people have worked for the organisation for several years.   As an expanding organisation we have been able to offer staff career development opportunities, the chance to move location or the ability to change working hours to fit in with new personal responsibilities.  Here are a few of the people we have working for us . . . .

Jane Hampson - Personnel Officer

Having achieved 19 years service in 2007, working from FWAG’s headquarters at Stoneleigh, Jane Hampson is one of the organisation’s longest serving employees.  Jane started her employment as Personal Assistant to the National Adviser and progressed to become PA to the Chief Executive, working for four different post-holders.   As FWAG grew in size new opportunities arose and Jane next took on the role of Public Relations Officer, being responsible for press releases and organising events such as the Silver Lapwing Award and National Farm Walk Week.   Alongside her PR work Jane was also undertaking personnel administration and FWAG supported Jane in studying for a human resources qualification.  As staff numbers continued to increase a great emphasis on human resources issues was required and Jane became the full time Personnel Officer for FWAG in 2003.

Commenting on her career with FWAG Jane said “FWAG has been more than a career to me – it’s been a way of life!  I have grown with the organisation and made many lasting friendships.  My different roles have given me a wide variety of skills and I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of such a dedicated team"

Lesley Kelly - Training & Development Manager, England

After studying a degree in Environmental Science at Coventry University, Lesley joined FWAG in 1994 as an Assistant Farm Conservation Adviser in Lincolnshire.  After four years in the post she was promoted to Farm Conservation Adviser and worked alongside her colleagues to make Lincolnshire into one of the most successful FWAG groups.  One of the highlights of this period was being involved in the submission and successful delivery of a European funding bid which resulted in 20 Polish environmentalists visiting the UK for a 4 week period to take part in training programmes.  In 2004 Lesley broadened her remit and became a Regional Farm Conservation Adviser for the East Midlands and North, assisting colleagues with funding bids, delivering project visits and arranging the induction of newly appointed staff.    Lesley’s personal interest in training and development was further strengthened when in January 2006 she was appointed as FWAG England’s Training and Development Manager to concentrate on product development, quality assurance and FWAG’s training programme.

Speaking about her role Lesley said “I believe passionately that providing a training and development framework for all staff and giving them informal support and advice maximises their confidence, skills and productivity.  I am delighted with the feedback that I am receiving from county groups and feel that this approach helps FWAG England to deliver quality advice and achieve environmental gain on farms”
