Farmers & landowners with existing Countryside Stewardship Scheme agreements (not the new Higher Level Stewardship agreements) have an opportunity to apply for funding for new capital works from Natural England, but the deadline of 15 November means that they will have to move fast. The work also needs to be completed and the money claimed by the end of February 2009.
Typically this work might involve ponds, hedges and drystone walls, as well as traditional farm building restoration and the preparation of management plans. Even those who have applied to add extra capital works to their agreements in the past are being encouraged to make an application.
FWAG Advisers can provide advice and assistance to farmers and landowners to taken advantage of this opportunity. Contact your local FWAG office for more details.
