A practical training day. After a short demonstration and explanation from our experienced tutor, Graham Branfield, this is a chance to have a go yourself and learn this traditional skill.

These popular outdoor practical training days give guidance on all aspects of orchard management. Learn about choosing trees, planting and aftercare. Come and have a go at pruning. Discover how to encourage wildlife into your orchard.

This event will explore the practical experience of installing a wood fuel boiler and also the management of woodland for woodfuel. Led by FWAG Farm Conseradviser Adam Lockyear with Tom Munro, Dorset AONB.

• Hear about the ecology of ponds, when to manage and when to leave.
• Practicalities of larger-scale wetland creation and how the Higher Level Stewardship scheme can help.

Join us for an afternoon walk with FWAG Conservation Adviser, Clare Buckerfield, focusing on habitat management work in the winter, including woodland, hedgerows and orchards. A FREE Smallholder manual will be available for those who attend this event.
